Creating an Exercise

To create a BCM exercise:

  1. Navigate to Business Continuity - Exercises
  2. Click Add Exercise
  3. Fill in exercise details:
    • Exercise Name - Title of the exercise
    • Type - Type of exercise
    • Date - Scheduled date
    • Scope - What will be tested
    • Objectives - What you want to achieve
    • Plans Tested - BCP/DRP being tested
  4. Define scenario
  5. Click Submit

 

Exercise Types

Types of BCM exercises:

  • Tabletop Exercise - Discussion-based walkthrough
  • Walkthrough - Step-by-step plan review
  • Simulation - Simulated scenario response
  • Functional Exercise - Partial activation of plans
  • Full-Scale Exercise - Complete plan activation

 

Exercise Planning

Plan exercises effectively:

  1. Define objectives and scope
  2. Develop realistic scenario
  3. Identify participants
  4. Prepare exercise materials
  5. Brief participants
  6. Set success criteria

 

Scenario Development

Create realistic scenarios:

  • Based on identified risks
  • Relevant to the organization

  • Include injects and surprises

Conduct the exercise:

  1. Brief all participants
  2. Present the scenario
