Overview

The Asset Information module serves as the central repository for managing information assets. It enables organizations to document, classify, and track assets with associated risks and controls.

  • Classification levels (Confidential, Internal, Public)

  • Owner and custodian assignment
  • Risk and control association

Creating an Asset

To create a new information asset:

  1. Navigate to Asset - Asset Information
  2. Click Add Asset
  3. Fill in asset details:
    • Asset ID - Unique identifier
    • Name - Asset name
    • Type - Asset type/category
    • Description - Detailed description
    • Owner - Asset owner
    • Custodian - Person managing the asset
    • Department - Associated department
  4. Click Submit

 

Asset Classification

Classify assets based on sensitivity:

  • Public - Information that can be freely shared
  • Internal - For internal use only
  • Confidential - Restricted access
  • Highly Confidential - Strictly controlled access

 

Asset Valuation (CIA)

Assess asset value using CIA triad:

  • Confidentiality - Impact if disclosed to unauthorized parties
  • Integrity - Impact if data is modified improperly
  • Availability - Impact if asset becomes unavailable

Each dimension rated on scale (e.g., Low, Medium, High, Critical)

 

Linking Risks and Controls

Associate risks and controls:

  1. Open asset detail
  2. Navigate to Relations section
  3. Link existing risks from Risk Register
  4. Associate internal controls
  5. Map to compliance framework items

 

Supporting Documents

Attach relevant documentation:

  1. Go to asset detail
  2. Navigate to Documents section
  3. Upload files or link from File Manager
  4. Add document descriptions

 

Asset Overview

Access the overview dashboard:

  1. Click Overview in Asset Information
  2. View asset statistics by type
  3. See classification distribution
  4. Review asset value summary
